Targa Telematics is hitting the slopes for the 2022/23 season.

The company renewed its support for the young athletes engaged in the various disciplines of the World Cup for this skiing season

The 2022/23 ski season is just around the corner and Targa Telematics is ready for it with its athletes: Renè De Silvestro, River Radamus and Zrinka Ljutić.

As per tradition, the first race of the Alpine Ski World Cup will take place in Sölden where the first athlete will already be hitting the slopes on Saturday the 22nd of October: Zrinka Ljutić. Born in 2004, from Zagreb, she is amongst the rising stars of world skiing and has been taking part in FIS competitions since November 2020. On her debut, she recorded 2 victories in the European Cup. In the 2021/2022 season, she achieved another win in the European Cup, a first and a third place at the World Junior Ski Championships in Panorama (Canada), which was followed by a splendid 5th place in the Courchevel/Meribel Slalom in the last World Cup stage.

On the following day, it will be the turn of River Radamus, born in 1998 and a very promising American skiing athlete specialised in Giant and Super-G. At just 21 years of age, he held an impressive record at junior level, including 3 gold medals at the Winter Youth Olympic Games (2016) and 5 medals at the Junior World Championships, including 2 golds won just in 2019 in Val di Fassa. In the 2021-2022 season, River came 6th in the World Cup in Sölden and Alta Badia, and finished 4th in the Giant Slalom and Team Parallel at the Winter Olympic Games in Beijing.

Renè De Silvestro, the young Paralympic athlete, will be racing on the 8th of December. Born in 1996, he has now become one of the strongest assets of the National ski team. At the Beijing 2022 Paralympic Winter Games he won a silver and a bronze medal, which led him to receive an honorary title by the Italian President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella. In the 2021/2022 season, he came first at the sitting category of Supercombi, he achieved one victory and came third three times at the World Cup. He also won a gold medal in SC and a bronze in SG at the World Para Snow Sports Championships in Lillehammer. In previous seasons, René won three times at World Cup races, followed by 3 more podiums as well as winning numerous placings at the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Paralympic Games. His collaboration with Targa Telematics will extend to the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

In addition to young athletes, Targa Telematics also supports the Cortina Drusciè Ski Club, a leading sports club in the international arena and second civil society in Italy after the armed forces, with which it shares the goal to support the growth of young talents and to provide them with a stimulating and unifying, as well as winning, environment. The ski club also adopts Targa Telematics’ technology to monitor on an ongoing basis its fleet of shuttles: this allows to locate vehicles in the area, calculating their travel times and predicting waiting times for users.

Nicola De Mattia, CEO of Targa Telematics, commented: “I have always seen a parallel between the sports and the business environment. Passion, enthusiasm and determination to always take on new challenges and pursue self improvement are the conditions for achieving an ever greater performance. It is an attitude that we require from everyone at Targa Telematics, especially the young people who join our team, and we believe it is also the basis for our success.”
