Targa Telematics on-piste with the national men’s team at the alpine ski world championships in Are Sweden.

Targa Telematics is the official sponsor of the FISI – Italian Winter Sports Federation for the men’s national team at the World Championships Alpine Ski, taking place from 4 to 17 February 2019 in Åre, Sweden. With 11 titles up for grabs in the five individual disciplines in addition to the team competition, these championships are an opportunity for the Italian national squad to make a bid for excellence in the most important event of the season.

The Targa Telematics archer symbol will adorn the race kit of the squad members: Luca De Aliprandini, Mattia Casse, Stefano Gross, Christof Innerhofer, Matteo Marsaglia, Simon Maurberger, Manfred Moelgg, Dominik Paris, Giuliano Razzoli, Riccardo Tonetti and Alex Vinatzer.

Targa Telematics operates in the field of Internet of Things and is European leader in the development of connected-car technologies, providing its services to major rental companies, leasing companies, large company fleets and car sharing operators. The company has seized on this opportunity with enthusiasm, recognising in FISI and its athletes the same values that make up its own philosophy: passion, healthy ambition, the competitive drive to develop sustainable solutions and highly innovative forms of mobility, and of course the ability to evolve and foresee the needs of a constantly changing market.

“We are delighted to announce this prestigious partnership with FISI and the men’s national Alpine ski team”, says Nicola De Mattia, CEO of Targa Telematics. “For us it is an honor to assist and support Italian athletes in the World Championships – a task we will accomplish with maximum competitiveness, in the great tradition of Italian team spirit.” This new partnership is consistent with the sportsmanlike outlook of Targa Telematics, continually aiming for excellence and constantly investing in innovation, sustainability and the talent of its young workforce.

The accord with FISI adds to the two-year sponsorship deal with Emanuele Buzzi – who unfortunately will not participate in the World Championships because of an injury sustained just a few days ago in the downhill event at Wengen, after having crossed the line in 6th place, a career best result. “We are obviously very disappointed in not seeing our Emanuele at the starting gate – he would certainly have been a star player in this event”, adds Nicola De Mattia. “It’s just too bad that these unfortunate accidents are part and parcel of an athlete’s life. But Lele is already working on his recovery and we’re confident that he’ll be back stronger than before, with his usual grit and determination and his sights sets firmly on the many goals within his reach, just waiting to be taken. We are behind him 100% waiting for the next season.”

FISI President, Flavio Roda comments: “The deal with Targa Telematics is hugely satisfying and prestigious for the Federation and will give the athletes support from a high level-level international technology partner. The Italian men’s team can count on one more friend in the hunt for medals, which begins today and presents us with important opportunities. Our athletes have shown they’re in good shape in the early part of the season, with top results being achieved. Now, we have to really hone our sporting commitment in preparation for the season’s highlight races.”
